Summary

- dlaczego życzliwość to klucz do sukcesu。

This book was recommended to me。 I picked it up on the weekend and tried to read it between doing chores。 I couldn’t get into it and decided it was just another “one of those books” (meditate and do breathing exercise, write a gratitude journal, be present and reduce screen time, blah blah)。 Then today I woke up at 2am and couldn’t go back to sleep。 My mind was full of chatter and I was stressing out about a work issue that I could do absolutely nothing about at 2am in the morning。 To distract m This book was recommended to me。 I picked it up on the weekend and tried to read it between doing chores。 I couldn’t get into it and decided it was just another “one of those books” (meditate and do breathing exercise, write a gratitude journal, be present and reduce screen time, blah blah)。 Then today I woke up at 2am and couldn’t go back to sleep。 My mind was full of chatter and I was stressing out about a work issue that I could do absolutely nothing about at 2am in the morning。 To distract myself I opened up this book and finished in three hours。 At this particular moment in time it was exactly what I needed and it gave me perspective and clarity。 Like people, you have to meet the right book at the right time。 。。。more

I was curious about this book as I’ve seen such polarized opinions。 I do follow Jay on social media since his early days and I’m familiar with his content。 This book is very aligned to his purpose of “making wisdom go viral”。 As many point out, there’s nothing new about what’s in the book, but what I find valuable is that it’s very well curated content wise and I love how he relates things to his monk experience。 Indeed I’d put this book among my favorite reads this year。

Some key highlights:- I was pleased to read that it also took him about 10 minutes to settle during a meditation。- Living without ego takes a while to get there。- Love is living without judging others/things。 - You can be a modern monk and meditate anywhere/anytime if you're in the present moment。 Some key highlights:- I was pleased to read that it also took him about 10 minutes to settle during a meditation。- Living without ego takes a while to get there。- Love is living without judging others/things。 - You can be a modern monk and meditate anywhere/anytime if you're in the present moment。 。。。more

An easy read! The book is sort of a short biography of his life as a monk and the lessons he learned throughout living as one。The lessons and instructions are easy to follow, and takes a while to get the hang of it, and by doing the DIY, it reveals a lot about yourself and your habits。The author also has a podcast and does free meditations and life lessons on his podcast, Instagram and Youtube, which also sum up some of the lessons in this book。The only downside is that the stories behind those l An easy read! The book is sort of a short biography of his life as a monk and the lessons he learned throughout living as one。The lessons and instructions are easy to follow, and takes a while to get the hang of it, and by doing the DIY, it reveals a lot about yourself and your habits。The author also has a podcast and does free meditations and life lessons on his podcast, Instagram and Youtube, which also sum up some of the lessons in this book。The only downside is that the stories behind those lessons are either short(lackluster) or filled with meaningless details rather than being straight to point。Overall I do recommend this book, since it reveals a lot about one's self。 。。。more

An exceptional book。 I was recommended this read from both my brother and wife after they pushed it's importance。 And I have to say, I am grateful they did。 The knowledge in this book is exceptional, no matter your ethnicity or religious views。 It pushed me to reflect on my actions throughout the day and be mindful of my thoughts。 In my career as a paramedic, I found the lessons in this book imperative while on the job and necessary when returning home。 But, the fact is, with the way the last fe An exceptional book。 I was recommended this read from both my brother and wife after they pushed it's importance。 And I have to say, I am grateful they did。 The knowledge in this book is exceptional, no matter your ethnicity or religious views。 It pushed me to reflect on my actions throughout the day and be mindful of my thoughts。 In my career as a paramedic, I found the lessons in this book imperative while on the job and necessary when returning home。 But, the fact is, with the way the last few years have been I think everybody could use a little bit of a lighter view on their days, and reflection on what is important。 This book is just that, and so much more。 Highly recommended。 5/5 stars。 。。。more

For the record I made it to page 210-ish and needed to walk away。 I got to a point where I felt I’ve read all this elsewhere and that it has been presented better by others。 The book started feeling very repetitive。 When I got to the gratitude section and he’s telling the story of an app developer that made $18 million for selling an app and his gratitude for not being hired by Twitter or Facebook before that because he would have made less… OK I’m done。 The content started feeling very unrelata For the record I made it to page 210-ish and needed to walk away。 I got to a point where I felt I’ve read all this elsewhere and that it has been presented better by others。 The book started feeling very repetitive。 When I got to the gratitude section and he’s telling the story of an app developer that made $18 million for selling an app and his gratitude for not being hired by Twitter or Facebook before that because he would have made less… OK I’m done。 The content started feeling very unrelatable。 。。。more

Most of the content is derivative (with credit given), so if you read a lot of personal growth books, or are familiar with mindfulness and meditation, there won’t be a lot of groundbreaking material here, although there is some valuable stuff。 Personally I can’t decide if I find Jay Shetty to be kind of phony or kind of charming, but I think he’s doing a good thing in presenting this info in an easy to digest way that could help a lot of people。 Overall, I’d say the book is worth reading, and I Most of the content is derivative (with credit given), so if you read a lot of personal growth books, or are familiar with mindfulness and meditation, there won’t be a lot of groundbreaking material here, although there is some valuable stuff。 Personally I can’t decide if I find Jay Shetty to be kind of phony or kind of charming, but I think he’s doing a good thing in presenting this info in an easy to digest way that could help a lot of people。 Overall, I’d say the book is worth reading, and I may revisit a couple of the meditation tips。 。。。more

Jay Shetty shares the wisdom he gained living as a monk for three years and breaks it down into practical things we can apply every day to live with more awareness and intention。 It was exactly the brain shift I needed to get out of a rut and remember I create my own inner world。 “When we tune out the opinions, expectations, and obligations of the world around us, we begin to hear ourselves。”-Jay Shetty

Repeated a thousand times。I am having second thoughts about all his previous encounters with the people that he has collaborated with。 Granted he is a "monk-turned-businessman" in the end of the day, but still。 Listen to Shetty with a high level of skepticism and never ever pay a dime to him。 。。。more
